Dietary Intake and Nutritional Status of Javanese Women in Rice Producing Areas: a Comparison between Lactating and Non-lactating Women

Maintaining optimal maternal nutrition is essential for the mother’s health and child’s growth development. Throughout lactating period, significant due to high nutritional needs. Therefore, an increase in food consumption necessary. This research aimed analyze dietary intake status of non-lactating women living rice-producing areas Central Java, Indonesia. A cross-sectional study was conducted from December 2014 February 2015 Demak Regency. As many as 375 participants were recruited analyzed this study. The results showed that mean BMI-score mothers higher than breastfeeding (p=0.039). However, between two groups not significantly different. Significantly more consumed dark green leafy-colored vegetables (68.8%) other (59.2%) (54.4%, p=0.065 36.8%, p=0.001, respectively). Regarding selected macro micronutrient intakes, statistically differences could be proven. In short, within different physiological statuses BMI categories they around same amount macro-and intakes groups, except vegetable among women.
